Alright, let me give you a small story. I was hopping on to do some stat grinding with Toad Man (see what I did there?) when I noticed his defense had fallen from 9999 to 9970-ish. I figured this was a one off thing, so I boosted that back up. When I was giving new moves to robots, I was looking at their base stats, only to find everyone had a base stat of 595, the standard level 100 stat. This means Quick Man was as fast as Guts Man and Top Man was strong as Crash Man. I decided to look at the database to see if I had completely lost it, but it shows there as well everybody had the same base stats. At first I was thinking it was a glitch, but then I remembered what time of year it was, so was this an intentional prank?
595 Base Stats? Posted by Tobyjoey on April 3rd, 2015 at 10:21pm Viewed 629 Times
Toby... This is not right, and you should've Looked... I know MM has 595 for everything when lvl 100. But seriously... Why did you ... Eh. i dont think everyone has 595. because... Well let me check. yes, Indeed. WIth out any doc bonus, bots have 595 as their Lvl 100 stats. But everyone is on a doctor. So, yeah...
...For some reason the Database got the stats reset, and it's affecting the game. Even Mechas are at default stats, and for Gen 1, that's a buff for them. Either something went horribly wrong a few nights ago...or this is a sign that Adrian is preparing to release the Update very soon.
@MetaKirbSter : That is what happened to my Toad Man. With the reduction and addition of stats, my Toad Man's defense lowered, while I think it's attack raised. Same thing must have happened to Tail's Bright Man.
Alright, so BossMan let me know about this thread through email and I came to check it out as soon as I got home this morning. After looking through the database I could see that, yes, everything had been reset. After some snooping around the code and testing things, I found the problem.
Last night after fixing a typo in Hard Man's quotes, I logged into the game's admin panel and ran the update_robots() function. Everything went fine and there were no visible errors so I refreshed Hard Man's database page, saw that the quote had been changed, and logged out. It was then that all the stats were reset.
After some digging around I realized that Google had changed the public address of our stats spreadsheet and my update script was being returned an empty file. Unfortunately my script wasn't smart enough to halt operations when an external file was empty so it just defaulted to the 100/100/100/100 spread for each robot.
I just finished updating the script and fixing the issue, and after reloading the database everyone's stats seem to be fine again. I'm really sorry for this oversight and I hope it haven't done any permanent damage... I was just trying to update a quote! :'(
I feel bad for users who played the game for the first time last night or this morning - progressing through Chapter Two must have been a nightmare. >_>
