Alright, you guys want me to give this a spin? I'll give this a spin. First, I'll have to set a few boundaries, though:
1. This will be done in the traditional paragraph format (Meaning all words, none of that picture stuff). Therefore, I will be expecting a certain level of detail in your responses. Since I think I'm the only veteran here, I'll be setting the bar fairly low, but I want to see effort.
2. YOU MUST CREATE YOUR OWN CHARACTER. Canon Mega Man characters will be rejected on sight, and characters named after yourself, almost certainly so, on the grounds that self-insert characters are boring. Before you join, you will submit a Bio for your character, providing basic information such as name and creator (If relevant), as well as a brief summary of the character's appearance, a rough take on their personality, and, perhaps most importantly of all, some form of backstory. I reserve the right to reject any character Bio from joining, provided that I give sufficient reasoning and advice on improving the character.
3. Although this RP is primarily to test your ability to write in detail and play fairly in a conventional (If structureless) role-playing environment, I will be expecting consistent characterization from all players. In a way, I'll be making this easier for you, since you'll be working with a personality that you established yourself.
4. Have fun...or else! No, seriously, I didn't come here to be the Murderer of Fun; I'll be trying to have fun with it too! So have fun with it.
What's that? "Enough with the rules, Chaos, what's this RP actually about?"
I'm glad you asked. I was just getting to that.
---
The year 20XX. The city of Monstropolis was enjoying a sigh of relief. Dr. Wily was safely behind bars once again, thanks to the heroic actions of none other than Mega Man. This particular day was not a day of celebration, but of peace—all quiet, save for the dullish hum of life going on in the city. Or, at least, it was quiet, until a sounding trumpet in the distance played a king's herald.

Or, rather, the King's herald. Sure enough, every television in Monstropolis displayed King's face—headdress, war paint, and benevolent smile. "Good morning, Monstropolis," the once-deposed monarch beamed through the camera signal.

Initially, the citizens looked up at the monitor in fear. King had not been seen since his exodus a few years back; all had thought him dead until now. He took note of this immediately, and tried to relax, slipping off his helm to reveal tufts of radiant blue hair. "Peace be upon you, citizens! I know this is a time of peace for Monstropolis; I do not approach in order to wage war once again. Oh, rest assured, there will be conflict, but for the sake of those who would partake in it!" Clearing his throat, King began a somewhat lengthy explanation.

"I still believe in a world where man and metal man can live in peace, if not in unity. But as long as Robots will fight other Robots to preserve that peace, I think it only fair that there should be an entire league of heroes, not just those who made me see when I had been made blind by the hands of the madman! If we all prepare ourselves, we can uphold this peace, and make the world a better place to live in! Am I not correct?" A few citizens nodded quietly; others clapped.

"Indeed I am! And in my journeys across this world, I have found other Robots who also thought I was correct. We have formed an alliance and sharpened our bodies and minds, and today, we stand before you to offer you a chance to do the same—in a game we call the King's Gambit Challenge!"

"The rules are simple: four chosen Robots will arrive on the scene and battle through a gauntlet of my companions. The battles are for training purposes, so any Robot who is incapacitated will be repaired and sent home. Those who claim victory against the entire gauntlet will leave not only with honor, title, and the ability to protect themselves and theirs, but they will also earn access to our humble armory."

"So! To all Robots out there who hear my call, to all that wish to uphold peace, to all who wish to take this King's Gambit Challenge...decide amongst yourselves who will go first, and of the four chosen, gird yourselves for combat! And, creators...please try to make arrangements for the Robot to take part in this; if they are successful, they will return to you more useful than they were before."

"Meet us at my old Tower on the outskirts of town. You'll find it refurbished, with us waiting there for you." And, as suddenly as King's transmission had appeared, it vanished, and the screens returned to their typical displays.

The challenge was set. The question was...who would rise to the challenge?

(You cannot submit any more bios. MegaBossMan, Spinstrike, Btman, Tobyjoey, and I are the only people allowed to contribute to the story.)

Hiding Observing from behind the cover of the hedge rows, Print Man called out to Mage Man: "Watch yourself, Mr. Mage! It seems these ruffians can replicate anything we use against them! Tenfold, even!"

"Ah, seems everything is starting to heat up. They can handle the two by themselves. I'm going to watch."

Insanity Man, standing near the fallen statue, proceeded to transform to ball form, and he compacts his shell like a springboard. He releases the potential energy, and gets launched to a higher floor of the castle. There's a robot there too, and he prepares himself for battle. Strangely, Insanity Man doesn't launch an attack, he walks past the robot and into the fridge nearby. Although robots don't need food, Insanity Man has always been a pig with it, eating simply for the taste. He cooks up some popcorn, and stands on the ledge of the balcony. Before jumping, he looks at the robot and says

"Bet you're wondering why I ain't hitting you right now. Truth be told, skipping the fights would take all the fun out of it, and I don't want to miss any fun. Surprised my shell bounce worked too, usually it doesn't. Well, time to go enjoy the flick!"

Insanity Man jumps off, quickly goes into ball form, bounces once, twice, and three times, lands on a platform slightly high-up than the garden, most likely to view the beautifully-crafted garden, and sits on the ledge, and enjoys his popcorn while his team members continue to battle.

"Scream if you need anything!"

Mage Man looks at Insanity Man. "...Yeah... you do realize that this is to-" but before he could finish, one of the Pawns hit him. "Nice shot, Pawn. Really. Besides the fact I was off guard. Alright, guys, let's do this!"

The figure Insanity-Man had run into stayed quiet and tried to keep to the shadows. From the light he had let into the room, though, he could see light reflecting off of his pure black visor—a visor that no light could penetrate...not that he probably particularly cared. As he left once again, he breathed a sigh of relief. "That was too close."

Down below, the Pawn that had launched the tree gingerly danced around the burning foliage, aiming to get close enough for a good blow. Meanwhile, the Pawn with the flaming fists jumped to his feet and continued his close-quarters fistfight with Mage-Man, swinging wildly as flames trailed off of his attacks. He laughed a bit when he felt one of his fists collide with the side of his head, and nodded ever so slightly to his comrade, who shot a number of leaves into the air as a response. Swinging upward, Pawn set the leaves ablaze, and continued his inferno of attacks towards Mage-Man. Things had taken a turn for the better.

Print Man snaps his fingers. "Ah, I've got it! A combination attack!" Targeting the leaf-summoning Pawn, he let off a barrage from his Pencil Buster. "Mr. Mage, if you would be so kind as to ignite those?"

(Alright, alright, sorry to put the brakes on this again real quick, guys...but this is more or less what I was afraid of when I allowed Mage-Man in. Mage Reflection is simply too good as it stands. It's a mirror shield with no danger...which would be fine, Enker is built around a very similar concept, but unlike Enker, Mage Reflection always immediately sends the projectile right back at the person who fired it, and is also accompanied by a very reliable sidearm in the form of Mage Fireball.

So I'm going to tweak it's mechanics, on the grounds that I'm the Game Master and therefore I can do that. Here's what we're looking at now:
Mage Reflection is activated with a mere snap of Mage-Man's fingers, summoning a mirror-shaped shield directly in front of him. This shield reflects all attacks (Even melee attacks—their fist will come back out of the mirror and punch them!), but it only remains active for a split second, meaning it needs to be summoned mere moments away from Mage-Man being hit with a projectile—and it won't be able to block too many.
If this doesn't coincide with the way in which you intended to use Mage Reflection, I'd be happy to hear a counter-proposal.)

(Oh, yeah, and from a quick search on Google, tungsten (Which is what the Pencil Buster fires, even though most pencils are made of graphite...) burns at ~2,900 degrees Celsius. I don't think Mage Fireball gets quite that hot.)

The flaming leaves glanced off of the Mage Reflection, returning them all to sender, and the Pawn couldn't do much about it. The leaves latched onto him, and he was left in a burning heap.
Only the firefighter was left standing. He stood still for only a moment, then spun around on one foot and charged Print-Man, with an intensity in his eyes that was conspicuously absent before. As he approached, he suddenly dropped to a crouch, then swung up at Print's jaw in a powerful flaming uppercut.

[OOC: Just waring you guys, I will be absent on Tuesdays and most of Wednesdays, so don't wait up for me.]

Gamble Man looked at the two Pawns lying on the ground after the explosion. Feeling rather satisfied with the results from these battles, Gmable Man looked at the others. "Um, do you need any help, Mage Man? You, Print Man?" inquired Gamble Man. His words fell upon deaf audio sensors as Print Man and Mage Man were engaged in combat with the Pawns. "I guess they are handling themselves. They'll let me know if they need anything." thought Gamble Man. As he created 3 count bombs to use as platforms and jumped up to the where Insanity Man was sitting he asked "Care to spare any of that popcorn?"

Insanity Man looked over to Gamble Man, and held out his bag of popcorn. Gamble Man took a handful, and they continued to watch. "You know, I'm glad you got here. I was expecting a medium bag, but I guess I got an extra-large. I couldn't eat all that, considering I already eat this morning. You're pretty good with those explosives, kid." said Insanity Man with a smile. Perhaps he's warning up to his allies? Nah.

"You know though....It was serve yourself down there in the popcorn room, so I put a LOT of butter in there. Naturally, we don't want to fat ourselves up, so if you would put out your hands...."

Of course, being the doubting and curious being he is, Gamble Man didn't seem too excited to do something for the maniacal robot. He put out his hands, but prepared himself for whatever the shell robot might dish out. Instead of attacking, Insanity dumped out all the popcorn and a lot of grease all over his hands. All that was left in the bucket was a pool of goopy butter. Gamble Man was disgusted, as no one would want popcorn and butter all over their hands, but Insanity Man reassured him. "Before you decide to dump it all over the place, may I remind you that is lunch. Now, hold off. Hey, Pawnster!"

The Pawn was right below Insanity, so he looked up. Insanity-Man dumped the pool of butter all over the Pawn's eyes, turned into ball form, and then dropped on the expendable robot. He landed directly on him, but the attack didn't do much. Pawn wasn't too affected by this, and punted the ball back onto the balcony. Insanity Man turned back into his regular form, and had a small ember on his nose. He did the old comical, two-finger swish(You know, what everyone does in the movies when they have a small flame on a hair or something.), and motioned Gamble Man to put the popcorn back into the bucket. He grabbed a handkerchief from his shell, and gave it to Gamble Man to wipe his hands with. Pawn wasn't too damamged by Insanity's little attack, but his vision was clouded. He tried to wipe off the butter off his eyes, but to not much avail. He proceeded to fight, but only this time, he couldn't track his opponent's movement as well.

[OOC: If anyone wants to complain how ridiculous this is, it didn't really damage Pawn all that much, so Print still has some things to do to finish him off. I thought this would fit Insanity Man well, given his unpredictable character. I mean really, who expected this?

Also, Gamble and Insanity are currently enjoying their popcorn while the others fight for their life. You know, unless our Mage friend wants to enjoy some popcorn or fight some pawns with Print Man. Either one.

SPOILER: You'd have to be pretty crazy to pick Pawn over Popcorn. Just saying.]

"Cowards!" Print Man shouted as Pawn once again slugged him in the jaw. He reeled backwards, stumbling into a rose bush. Seething in fury, he tore up the bush and hurled it towards the fiery fiend.

Pawn smiled in satisfaction under his faceplate as the foe went sailing back. He was going to win this skirmish—or, he thought he was, until the unexpected "attack" from above struck his eyes...then his entirety. Knocked flat onto his back, he stumbled to his feet, only to be hit with a rose bush and downed again. In his momentary fury, he burned the bush, shouting "enough!"

Stumbling over toward the fountain, the one standing Pawn approached the seven downed ones, each of whom merged back into him as he approached. The end result was a single Pawn, less briused and battered than they had each been separately, but still clearly battle-worn. "As far as I am concerned, you have bested me. Go forth and fight your next foe!" With a snap of his fingers, the doors leading into the tower swung open. He stood silently looking around at the wreckage of the courtyard. "I'll...stay here, and...uh...clean up."

Upon hearing the Pawn's words, Gamble Man hopped back to the ground. "Alright. 1 challenge down, who knows how many left to go." mumbled Gamble Man. "Are we ready to go?" asked Gamble Man. Insanity Man seemed saddened that the show was over, Mage Man seemed calm and collected, almost as if he was used to this kind of thing, and Print Man looked to be rather upset, but Gamble Man wasn't sure why. Then again, Gamble Man was never good at reading emotions.

Getting to his feet, Print Man dusted off his coat and sheathed his sword. "Well, that could have gone over better" he grumbled. He briefly surveyed the scene around him before turning to Gamble Man. "I suppose we ought to be on our way. As for what's ahead, I have a few theories. But there are no secrets that time does not reveal, as Racine said."

Insanity Man got back on the garden floor. Popcorn in hand, he walked over to the broken Pawn. Whispering so that his allies cannot hear, he says

"When I become King's Herald, I will make life for you a living nightmare. Remember that, because I will become the Herald. Ok, bye! Hehe!"

Insanity caught up with the rest of the group. As they looked onto what they might face next, Insanity Man puts up that familiar smirk, and goes into ball form. He revs up, and once again, he speeds to the next challenge. As he does, he leaves his teammates the decision....Do they want to press forward, or do they want to turn back as their teammate once again tries to speed through?

Of course, they could just stop him and tell him to wait.

[OOC: No one is going to turn back, because that will not happen.]
